Navigation Experiment

Posted by Robert Wigmore

The third experiment for 104 in trimester one, 'Navigation', consisted of creating an environment in unreal editor which had an area above below and on a terrain, and then creating a website to display the work.I chose to model my environment on a child’s bedroom at an extreme size and used the book “Alice in Wonderland’ as an inspiration for ideas. The ‘on’ area of the bedroom was set on top of the bed, with the bed covers used as a bumpy terrain; the ‘below’ area was underneath the bed which was dark and messy; the ‘above’ area was set on a shelf above the bed which had giant toys, books and a Lego castle.
The player was able to navigate the environment by moving in between the mess and clutter of the bedroom which created a path through each area.
The child’s bedroom theme allowed me to create three very different areas while still keeping a consistent environmental setting.

Hey I like the way that you have carried the bedroom theme all the way through the level.
