On to the editing. After sifting through all the takes of each scene and finding the most suited ones for the documentary I stuck them all together, this was all done in avid. Along with the boosting of sound and some colour fixes.
I noticed that some of the scenes were quite dark; particularly the sign off at the end by the reporter and the beginning when the drug dealer is being tracked down. I may have to do some reshooting.
I took the compiled sequence into After Effects for the final stages of the editing. The tracking of the black square on the drug dealer’s eyes was very time consuming because the film is quite dark. I had to do most of it frame by frame.
I had a few troubles rendering from After Effects - A lot of troubles really. Most of the time when I tried to render it would get about 90% done and then crash. This happened at least 20 times throughout the whole process. Really annoying considering that it takes about half an hour to render up to 90% anyway.
